The Benefits Of Booking A Cab From The Airport!
1st March 2018
Whether you are visiting the U.K for the first time or a regular international traveller, Heathrow airport can be a daunting experience at times for many, but it is worth it because you are entering a gateway to one of the most diverse countries in the world, consider checking out the Visit London
website for a complete guide to the capital.
By jetting into Heathrow you are probably going to making your way to the capital city as a tourist, resident or on business. Either way you need transport to get you to your destination. There are a number of options to consider, such as coach, train and taxi.
Coach and train as an option is good value but prepared to wait in a queue with many other passengers, share the next seat with a stranger and struggle with your luggage, if on a budget then this could be the best option, or is it?
Booking a pre-booked cab can be a fast, simple and cost effective option. The myth that this type of travel from the airport is expensive is simply not true. There are many travel providers who offer excellent value and services to a wide range of passengers. Almost all will offer a meet and greet service at the arrivals hall, this should include showing a welcome board with your name on it so you instantly know that they are your driver, assistance with your luggage is also part of service which is great if you have a lot to manage.
A wide range of vehicles are also on offer, private hire companies are licensed to transport a maximum of 8 passengers in a variety of vehicle types. All companies and vehicles will be licensed by Transport for London
if you want to check any companies to make sure they are licensed this is your first stop.
Vehicles will range from a standard to an executive level, different brands from Ford to Mercedes, whatever your preference their will be the right travel provider to suit your travel needs.
To get to central London in a standard 4 seat car you should be looking to pay anywhere between £30 to £40, if you can get it cheaper than this then you have bagged a bargain! The executive option for the same journey should be between £40 to £60, again any cheaper is a great price! Please check our vehicle size guide
when comparing prices on Jumpyn to make sure you select the right vehicle for your journey.
The best time to book a cab to the airport?
Top Tip by Jumpyn Support Team
A lot of the time a flight can be in the small hours and getting picked up at this time can be more costly, In fact the cost of your fare can increase by a half! Our advice is to make your booking so you are collected between the hours of 6am and midnight, extra cost could be incurred out of these times, top tip!
We are currently offering a 15% on all bookings, simply enter the code FREE15 at time of payment to take advantage of this offer!
Taxis, minicabs – what’s the difference?
Taxis are classed as Hackney Carriage, Minicabs are classed as Private Hire. The main difference between the two is, you can flag down a Hackeny Carriage vehicle form the side of the road, with a Private Hire, you have to pre-book your journey in advance. Both have to meet certain regulations in order to be licensed and drivers of both classes of vehicle should be equally competent and reliable.
We are constantly looking to improve Jumpyn for both passengers and cab partners. We have had conversations with a number of travel providers who have asked for a surcharge to be implemented for all airport pick ups. As from today a £15 levy has been added to all pick ups from all UK airports. This fee will cover parking and any meet and greet service for up to one hour. Additional fees could applied by travel providers if the wait is longer than one hour.
